One step forward…..

I have talked to my sister as she is doing medicine and this could be relevant to the idea about biology, she referred me to the BBC site and leant me a book.

After talking to Katina, it came to light that the idea may be a little too conventional. Plus we decided that our idea has already been done by the BBC, (revise wise) – an already comprehensive website that matches the syllabus for that age group…

We re-thought our idea and considered possible effects of smoking- a sort of advert or game, where by an animation would be interactive and you could make the character smoke a mass number of cigarettes…and this would affect his health- this could be indicated by bar charts…and when the character smoked enough cigarettes he would die…

Being as we have to come up with a working prototype by tomorrow, jack and I have been manically searching for ideas and new inspiration; along with flash tutorials online to see how we could realise these ideas that we have had.

I met up with an acquaintance to talk about the effects of global warming and how these ideas could be integrated within a game that would be suitable for children. Another idea came about where the user would drag and drop trees or fridges onto certain parts of the globe and this would affect its state and possibly the bar chart of how high the water levels were etc…

Talking to a friend Kate we came to the conclusion that our ideas are fairly similar- although instead of dragging and dropping things onto a world, you would drag and drop fruit or different foods onto a character and this would affect his state- more spots, fatter, thinner, etc….

Its an interesting idea and thought about pursuing this a little more…so I have agreed to talk to a friend who it on a dietetics course about nutrition and some of the elements that we might want to put in the game to make it realistic and inform people about what they should and shouldn’t have e.g. LDL cholesterol levels and how that is affected by mono-unsaturated fats. This follows on from our original idea about biology.

I have researched a little bit into action script and browsed the net for information about cholesterol and nutrition.

I am continuing to look for tutorials that are relevant.
