After thinking about this project a little more I have decided that I would like to experiment with shot codes
‘The circular sequence of black and white blocks represents a url, any url you want, for example to your products website or a point of sale. The ShotCode reader understands this code and connects the end users mobile phone to your location in three clicks or less! Billions of ShotCodes can be created, enough for all your campaigns and them some!’ (www.shotcode.com, 2007)
So anyone can take a picture of these codes and then be linked to a website url…
I have decided that I will use movie clips that will be stored online and shotcodes. So that people may watch the clips on their phone.
Each area that I put the shotcodes in will have some story behind it. The movie clips will be a database of one film….and to get the whole overview of what the film is about you will have to visit a number of locations. The idea being that these individual clips are like scenes, however could be watched independent on the other clips. So it could make for a different viewing experience for each viewer.
The ideas that I am experimenting with are those of un-conventional narrative and database cinema- creating something that is new and interactive - as the person would actually have to go to the locations themselves… I like the idea that they may be part of the story. Perhaps following the protagonist to the different locations.
The clips may be sequential or not depending on narrative. The clips may either hint at the next location or My idea is that I will tell a story about either myself or a make believe character who experiences different things at these particular locations.
I plan to experiment with this idea using ipaq’s that are avalible to borrow from university.
